Devotion for Week of October 29th -November 4th, 2012

 Hi.  Today is Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012.  It's 6 AM and 37 degrees in Conway, SC.  A little chilly and breezy, but it's time for things to cool off.  It's that time of the year.  I like the change of seasons.  When I was younger I only liked summer and winter.  I Believe that was so I could be out of school in the summer and in the winter(the cold season) Santa Claus came to our house.

Now that I've grown up some and my hair is gray, I've learned to love all the seasons:  spring with new life and beginning; summer with the sun's heat and the rain; fall with the change of colors; and winter with the death of old things and bad things, Thanksgiving, Christmas, renewal and new beginning of a new year.  It's a chance to start over again, another chance to get things right with God and family.  A new beginning, a fresh start!  Once again, something to look forward to, a new year, 2013, if the Lord tarries His return.

But for today, it is the day the Lord has made.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it (Psalms 118:24).  Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord.  They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."  Praise God for you and the plans He has for us in our lives.  He has ordained it and it will be carried out if we stay in His will doing what He has called us to do, serve Him, worship Him, and obey Him.  Praise His Holy Name - Jesus.  Amen.

Our devotion for today is Learning to Stand.  Following are the scriptures for our devotion, taken from Ephesians 6:10-17 KJV:

Vs 10:  Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.

Vs 11:  Put on he whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Vs 12:  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Vs 13:  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Vs 14:  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Vs 15:  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Vs 16:  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Vs 17:  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of

Life is hard!  Many times life throws hard balls at us, especially if we are trying to live to please God.  Satan and his buddies are out here watching for those who try harder to live right in this world today  Most people, even some who carry the title Christian, will tell us " Don't care, to heck with them.  Don't bother with them, don't even pray for them".  But when we quit praying we really quit caring and that's not Christlike!  We must take a stand and when we have done all we are supposed to do, we can stand on God's word and REST IN HIM!  We know that He will bring our needs and prayers to pass.  He will do what He said He will do!  He is faithful yesterday, today, and always.  HE IS GOD - JEHOVAH-JIRAH, the Lord our provider.  He will always meet all our needs.

Remember Christian Warrior, there is a war going on in our everyday lives.  It comes many times in the face of one we may not recognize such as sickness, the ones closest to us (spouse, children, grandchildren), our job, our home, or our family (siblings, mother, dad, etc.).  The very things people love most, Satan will use to try and defeat us any how and any way he can!  So be on the look out.  Keep your armour intact that you may be able to stand against the conflicts of the devil.  The believer's victory has been secured by Jesus Christ Himself through His death on the cross.  Jesus waged a triumphant battle against Satan.  He disarmed evil powers and the authorities of wickedness (Col. 2:15, Matt. 12:29, Luke 110:18, John 12:31).  He led a host of captives free and redeemed the believer from Satan's dominion.

We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ.  Trust Him today, not this world, the leader of darkness!!!.  Study and remember what we are told in Romans 8:37-39 about our authority as conquerors!

Vs 37:  Nay, in all these things we are more that conquerors through Him that loved us.

Vs 38:  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, not things present, nor things to come,

Vs 39:  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Let us pray:  Father, we acknowledge You as God, Who created us, Who gave us life.  We thank You.  Thank You for Your Son Jesus who gave His life for us.  Forgive us Lord for our sins.  Help us to live pleasing to You.  Keep us safe in Your will.  Teach us Your Word and Your way.  Give us a deep desire to know more of You and to pattern our lives after You.  Make and mold us like the clay we are.  Breathe new life into us today Lord.  Allow us to see others as You do.  Help us to forgive as easy as You forgive us everyday.  Teach us, Jesus, is our prayer.  May we become your student and your children moment by moment.  In Your name we pray, Amen.

Trying to look through the eyes of Jesus,

  1. Awesome words but if you don't live by them, they're meaningless. To claim to be a child of God and to be a Christian, you must live that life. Too many times people claim to be Christians and are the biggest phonies. A wolf in sheeps clothing. They act one way in front of the people they are trying to impress and convince and then the other person (Satan's Puppet) comes out and is evil and not so Christian-like. I know someone like that and it's sad. The lies and the deceit are witnessed by God himself. So to that person I say, "Keep judging, keep lying, keep being deceitful, keep up the front, because God knows the truth about you". You will be judged! With Jesus Christ in my heart and in my life, I am comforted, my family is comforted and I have been given HIS wisdom and knowledge to get myself and my family through the evil that tries to penetrate our spirit.

  2. Anonymous, Thank you for your comments. You speak as someone who has been hurt, remember satan comes to kill,steal and destroy us. That is his total intent.Where loves grows there will always be a ground for instruction and correction. With it comes growing pains like a our new born babes. Sometimes like labor it brings forth pain before the beautiful innocent child faith that God wants from His children. Allow me to encourage youto pray for this person.Be careful of judging others so harsh yourself because it could fall back on you and your family. Jesus says to love one another and pray for each other. also please read these words of God. They help you over your hurt and pain and you to move on. Scpt. Luke6-27-38 Matt7.1-6 Prayer is alwayer the best anitdote for a broken heart and PRAYER does changes thines an PEOPLE. Please Don't give up!!!!!! Time is running out1! SHOW ALITTLE MERCY AND FORGIVEN IF YOU WANT TO RECEIVE ANY!!!!!!!!!JESUS CHRIST showed much and He is our example. With love and Prayers for and your Family Ms JUNE
