Prayer

What is prayer?  Our communication with God which should be as natural as breathing.

Daniel's prayer for his people  Daniel Chap 9:1-19
What brought daniel to this prayer?
     1.  The word of God.
     2.  Daniel studied Jeremiah.
     3.  The word reveals God's will.

A study of God's word followed by prayer is the formula for determining God's will for our life.

Daniel was a man of prayer.  Prayer should be as normal as breathing.

1.  Daniel took time to pray.
A prayer of faith is a prayer that praises God for the answer at the time a person prays it.  It does not hold praise until the answer comes, but faith has the answer and praises the Lord for it.
2.  Daniel was always "prayed up".
It was an attitude of heart which he maintained constantly.  I believe he was a balanced person with a heart of praise.  We can read of him offering thanks to God many times.
3.  Daniel had an excellent spirit.
He prayed 3 times a day at his window opened toward Jerusalem.

Other Great People That Prayed:
1.  Elijah
2.  Elisha
3.  Jeremiah
4.  Jonah
5.  Ester (for her people)
6.  Paul and Silas (while in prison)
7.  Job
8.  Stephen
9.  David
10.  A mother's prayer

However, the ultimate PRAYER WARRIOR was, and is, Jesus.  He prayed often but 2 instances that stand out to me are (1) in the garden when he prayed with such emotion and ferventsy His sweat became drops of blood.  He asked His disciples to pray but they could not pray even an hour without falling asleep.  My My!  (2)  when he gave the example of how we are to pray.  Many refer to this as The Lord's Prayer but it is His guidance as to how WE should pray.  Matt 6:9-13
"Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name.  Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:  For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen."

4.  Psalm 55:17  David says, "Evening, and morning and at noon, will I pray and cry aloud:  and He (God) shall hear my voice."

Praise God!!!
